Travelin'.

It's been a very long day today.
We decided to shell out some dough and take a "luxury coach tour" to Windsor, Stonehenge, and Oxford.

It was pretty cool.

Our first stop was Windsor Castle.

Me in front of the castle...Kay had to ruin the first one.

I know I look awkward but he was very intimidating!!!

Windsor was really nice...very beautiful...but I almost passed out there.
Definitely not fun.
My fault really, for depriving myself of more sleep and food before I long day.
But I got better...don't worry :) .

Next was Stonehenge. It's pretty cool there, even though its very blocked off. Well, by a short rope fence...but still.

I look so tired.

Looks like Olaf or something...that's the Legends of the Hidden Temple.

Last was Oxford...Christchuch College is apparently the model for the dining room in the first Harry Potter movie...we didn't get to see it though. Still pretty...still fun. We wandered the streets around the other school as well.

Well, that's about all of that I can handle!
Back to the grind tomorrow morning...boo.
Plus the paper.
But only 8 more working days and only 9 days until the paper has to be done!
I plan on having a ton of fun this coming weekend.
But hopefully I'll have some stuff to tell you during the week, as well!

Bye for now!!

Game-Set-Match

Alrighty!
Finally, some new pictures and exciting stuff to share with you folks back home...or wherever you are.

Today, which is Friday, which I can't believe, which I'm starting to lose track of, we went to Wimbledon. Ya know, the big Tennis dealio over here.

We waited in line for a good 3 hours or so to get ground tickets. It was worth it...its not like we were doing anything else! So we sat or stood in line, talking, reading, waiting, and eventually made it through the gates! And then...well...we watched tennis!
I'm not much of a tennis gal...I'm not much of a sports gal for that matter...but I'm so glad nI went. And it was certainly a lot of fun!

Time for pictures:
Finally inside!

List of...stuff...

Result! The queue card was for the line, and obviously, the ticket got me in. Oh, and there's my toes!

Kay promotes the drink of champions. Most people threw away their water after they saw this.

Awful picture...strawberries and cream are the premiere snack of Wimbledon. And they are good.

Our place in front of the big screen.

Some of the crowd.
Pretty.

One of the smaller matches we watched.

Yay!!!!

It has been a loooong day. And I'm starving. And tired.
I, as per usual, got crappy sleep last night.
Oh and it didn't help that I got up for 9 and went to bed around 4?
Most of the house went out and it was spectacular.
Took us a while to find a decent place, but I didn't have to drop any cash.
And I danced a lot as usual.
And I met some interesting people.
And we all have funny stories!

So much fun. Everyone is in Ireland/Scotland (I just don't have the money for that kinda stay) this weekend, so its quiet here. But I'm looking forward to going out more as a group and doing as much as possible.

My paper is due in about a week and a half. I have nothing done...but I always come through in the end. As for the internship, out of the next 15 days, I only have 8 days left of actually going to Radio Jackie. Which makes me wonder if I will be doing a shift after all. It kind of lost its spark...but it would give me a small amount of money for fun and it would look great on a resume!

And as for being here...what is there...3 weeks left? 21 days? Something to that effect.
It seems like a lot of time...but 5 weeks passed by so freaking fast...I'm scared.

I hope I have more fun stories and pictures to share with you tomorrow...we're thinking of doing some kind of tour!

Bye for now :)

Time flies!

It really does.
It's already Wednesday, which means its already almost the end of the work week.

The worst part is that its our "long day" today.
We intern until our respective times and either head straight to class or go back home to change quickly and then go straight to class.
Luckily, I'll have time to have a snack and maybe watch another episode of Scrubs before I head off.

Class has seriously been a breeze. Perhaps its because the bazillion (5000, or 20 page) paper will no doubt drain us. Along with a presentation due the week afterwards. BLECH.
But as for class, we all meet at City University, get a free snack bag (Water, a muffin, and either an apple or banana), and split off into three groups to do different kinds of work.
So far, I've stuck with the media group...it is my main interest after all!
We do worksheets, or watch the news, or whatever and then discuss.
After a short break, everyone reconveins in the main lecture room and we do something really academic and important...like watch an episode of British "The Office" or take a fake citizenship test.
We don't really get too heavy...as you can tell. But there will be a final exam on a huge book of readings and such that they give us in a few weeks. So I can't brush it off too much.

As for the paper...I've written a couple of my thoughts and perspectives on the internship itself...but the academic aspect has yet to be achieved. And I really should start doing it bit by bit so I can juggle that with fun.
I have 20-odd days left here...and I can't believe it.
There's still so much to see and do.
I'm in LONDON. It's huge...and there's stuff surrounding this joint that would be worth checking out as well.

Luckily, tomorrow means the weekend after around 3 PM for me.
I plan on doing something fun to celebrate, whatever that may be, and planning stuff to do during the following three days.

You know what I was wondering?
It'd be awesome to hear what some of you guys have always wanted to do or see or have heard about that you think I would think is cool...or just worthwhile.
Suggestions help! I feel like I've done most of the basic stuff.
So give me some hints.

Bye for now, folks :)

Just cuz...

So my sister and aunt are bye bye.
They left yesterday.
I miss them.
And now I have no familiar faces to look forward to...except for those smiling, shining, beautiful ones when I come back home.

It's starting to get down to crunch time here...I don't know if I'm ready for it.
But I'll not bore you with those details.
Let's recap, shall we?

Saturday was pretty neat.
Maria and I got to roam the streets on our own, mostly focusing on shopping.
We wandered onto Carnaby Street...very cool, vintage, hipster-like.
I finally bought myself an article of clothing here (at H&M, go figure)...probably the only article of clothing I will buy over here...it was 10 American dollars...so whatevs.

Afterwards, I brought her back to my place so we could go out.
I drank waaaaay too much and danced my little booty off at some place called Real Blue.
Actually...I'm not sure. I think it was called that. Blue was in the title.
Needless to say, it was fun.
But I didn't go to bed until 6 AM because it took forever to get home.
Buses suck by South Kensington...my friend Laura and I basically walked.
Otherwise we would've been in bed at a decent night-out time.

Sunday was time to relax, finally.
I was on go since Maria and Aunt Barbara got here.
I took a walk, but came home and laid in bed on the computer for basically the entire night...not so bad.

I hate Mondays...I hate working.
The internship is starting to become a huge snoozefest.
But its experience...and I still think I would like the radio biz...just not the news desk.
I came home, watched Scrubs, read a little (New Moon now), and saw The Edge of Love with Laura.

Terrible, depressing movie.

So I'm going to go watch Scrubs to cleanse my palate before bed.
And then I will miss everyone a bit and fall asleep.

Sorry I've been a bore lately...but as things start to get serious in the academic front, going out and seeing things has been reaaaaalllyyyy rough.
There should be more to come.
If I have the financial capabilities, I would like to go to Wimbledon, do a boat cruise, perhaps see a matinee musical (They have one of Billy Elliot here!), and there's a trip to Brighton where we might actually get to do some swimming/sun-bathing.
More pictures and fun stories to follow I'm sure :)

Maria, Mariaaaaaa

So, my sister and my aunt are finally here!
Which is why I haven't really blogged.
I've been trying to spend as much time as possible with them...they are only here for one more full day :( .

On Wednesday night, as soon as they called me, I ate and headed over to their hotel.
I really wanted to see them...I wouldn't have been able to sleep knowing they were here and I hadn't seen them.

Thursday, I got out of work early, which was nice, and then I laid around until they called.
When they did, I went straight over, and we walked around to find a place to eat.
We had Moroccan food...chicken couscous...soooo good.

Then we went to Hyde Park to check out the Princess Di memorial fountain and our "favorite place in the whole of London", the Peter Pan statue.

Afterwards, I showed them around my neighborhood.
Maria came back to my place, cuz I really wanted to take her out with my friends.
Unfortunately, some of my friends coughkaycoughcoughkaycough didn't want to anymore.
So I took my sister to Piccadilly Circus just so she could see it at night.

It was pretty uninteresting.

Today was more fun.
We got to do a bus tour, and see some things I haven't yet.
We also did The London Eye.
Very fun.
Pictures now:

The National Gallery. My sister loved this.
All kinds of art, including Michaelangelo, Van Gogh...and other famous artists.
The paintings were exquisite though.
And the gallery is right across from Trifalgar Square. Reeeeaaaaallllyyyy nice.

The family :)Me and my sister love.

Buckingham Palace!
In front of the gate. With some guards!
Maria on The Eye. Pretty views.

I just like this picture.

Alright. So that's all folks!
Tomorrow night, its just me and the sister.
All the folks up in PC wanna go out.
And we're going to get CRAZY.
Well...I hope so.

Love you all, miss you all, see you in LESS THAN A MONTH!!!!

Wanted: Familiar Faces

I survived the graveyard shift at Radio Jackie...barely.
Luckily, I was able to get some shut-eye for about an hour.
I did nothing, but watch her gather together a bulletin and record it.
However, I did get to record a 30 second bit that was put on air!
My family streamed it and everything.
Apparently they laughed. I had to sound serious and professional for the news, and I guess that's just not expected of me!
I got home around 7 in the morning, and went right to bed 'til around noon.
I was exhausted by 9-10 but stayed up a little longer, because I've been reading Twilight (getting better!) and keeping in touch with my family.
My sister comes in today. In fact, she should be leaving the airport or heading to her hotel right this moment.
Unfortunately I have a long day ahead of me.
I just made it to the office (hahaha) and then I have class about an hour after I make it back in my area, so I'm going straight there so I can talk to my academic advisor beforehand.
The goal is to see her and my aunt after I get back. Hopefully they come to see my place.
Hopefully I won't be too grumpy and hungry.

I'm starting to crave familiar faces. I am having a great time here, don't get me wrong...but pictures and AIM chats and e-mails and messages and comments and whatever just don't do justice to the people I'm missing at home.
I want a large bear hug from all the people I love.

But seeing my sister, whom I love so very much, will definitely help curb some of those feelings.

Keep in touch, guys. I miss you all!

The weekend was definitely lowkey after Friday.
Now that we got a bunch of touristy things out of the way, we haven't been sure what to do.
But as we get deep into internships and 5000 word papers...its nice to take a breather.
Today, I lounged in bed with my book (I've started Twilight...so far, so good), made a small lunch, and waited for everyone to wake up/get ready.

We decided to go to the National History Museum and check out dinosaurs and human biology for the day.

Here's some cool photos.

I don't think we should've taken that one...look at what happened afterwards!!!!

Haha...pretty cool anyway.

Also, I finally learned that this:

leads to this:

Creepy. It kinda seemed like something for a science museum...not a history museum...but it was entertaining and educational all the same.

I am getting kind of nervous...instead of the typical internship tomorrow, I have to shadow the night shift woman from 10 PM-7 AM...and I'm not ready!
This means I have to figure out how I should sleep, and sit around by myself all day waiting to go in.

I think I'll do some grocery shopping and some sight-seeing around Notting Hill of my own...I barely know the area I'm squatting at!
But I'm still nervous to travel so late. And I'm really curious if I'll survive the entire night and make a comeback in time to work normal on Wednesday.
My aunt and sister are coming that day...I can't wait! Should be great...:)

Well that's all for now!

If you're easily offended...

This next blog entry is not for the faint of heart.
Just a fair warning.
But the pictures and stories I am about to share with you excite me greatly!
So bear with me.

Yesterday was Lezlie's 21st, so we of course wanted to have some fun and celebrate the crap out of it. We didn't get out of the house 'til 4. The goal was to shop. The goal wasn't achieved, because Oxford Circus was just that...a circus. It made us all anxious and sick and we got outta there pretty quickly.

We went to Tesco to buy groceries and booze to make dinner and drinks.
We made fajitas. The spread was excellent...and the food came out just as good.
I was the messiest eater...kind of embarassing...but fajitas aren't always dainty.
Anyone who has seen me eat tacos at school knows this :) .

How beautiful? Soooo delicious!!!!

After we hoovered 3 fajitas a piece, we decided to start getting ready for the night. To save money, we bought liquor for the house to drink and then we'd go out, so all we'd have to worry about would be a cover charge.
It was pretty sloppy.
First off, Kay and I haven't been drinkin' much since we got here...our pockets be thin.
We went a little overboard...but it was tons of fun!
When we finally got out, we couldn't find a place to settle. Everyone did, but Kay and I decided to go off and get lost on the bus for about an hour. We were on the wrong bus to start. We literally got yelled at to get off because it made its last stop and we were so confused. And then I fell asleep during the other trip, but we landed right outside the house.
FUN TIMES.
Seriously, though...it was.
Here are some pictures...
(If it ain't your thing, go past the pics...something even more intriguing awaits!)

So, needless to say, we had an exciting, rough, and crazy night.

Today was all about recuperating and then...GOING TO SEE THE WORLD NAKED BIKE RACE!!!!!!!!

That's right. Over 1000 people took off their skivvies and hopped on their bikes.
The basic gist is to protest oil and gas guzzling vehicles by bicycling (with a few rollerbladers here and there) around the city. NAKEDDDDDD!
We had to be disgusting and watch.
And now...YOU HAVE TO SEE IT!!!!

It was hard to get a good picture, as they were all moving obviously.
I don't want to offend anyone with frontal nudity.
It was such a cool thing, I must admit. These people were probably so chilly and uncomfortable to show their love for the environment. A lot of people were bare naked. But some people put body paint on, or wore a mask to cover their face, or wore flimsy underwear.
I even saw some booby tassles.
I loved it. They were so into it, so excited, and so passionate about the cause!
And all the voyeurs were out to watch!
Here's proof that I did actually see this all myself!

Tonight is going to be very relaxed. I might do laundry (probably not), snack up, maybe watch a movie, trade pictures...what-have-you.

Oh! And to cleanse your palate of all the pictures of me...I want to show you a picture of an authentic British meal I had...fish and chips with mushy peas!
I dipped the chips in mayo with vinegar and everything.
It was very delicious.

Yummo!

As usual, I miss you guys and think of you tons. I have ideas for souvenirs and I think you all will enjoy it.
I hope you're still reading...still curious.
I know its so hard to stay tuned, we all have our own lives.
But I can't wait to share the rest of my summer with everyone!
Love you guys!!!!

P.S. Counting the days 'til I get to see my aunt and sister!!!
